My Journey to Becoming a Massage Therapist

Early Roots: The Joy of Caring for Others

The love of caring for others came at a young age. Growing up around animals, I learned early on the importance of gentle, selfless care and the deep satisfaction it brings.

As a child, I even turned our living room into a “spa,” offering my older sister homemade “treatments.” Later, in junior high, I became the volleyball manager for the high school team, and before every game, I offered players shoulder and back massages to help them relax. Looking back, it’s clear this path chose me long before I consciously decided to pursue it.

Discovering My Calling in Healthcare

In high school, I completed a Nurse’s Aide (NAC) certification course and began working at my local hospital and senior care facility. That’s where my love for working with the elderly began — a passion handed down from my mother.

There’s something truly special about caring for elders: the wisdom, humor, and spark they share when they’re treated with dignity and compassion. Those experiences shaped how I approach every client today with patience, presence, and genuine care.

From Western Washington to a New Path

While studying Psychology and Anthropology at Western Washington University, I continued to work in hospitals and home care settings. Although I loved supporting people, I realized that the allopathic medical system wasn’t quite the right fit for me.

After graduating, I took some time to travel, reflect, and work in different roles, but the idea of becoming a massage therapist kept returning.

In 2015, after the loss of my father, I was searching for a new sense of direction and purpose. Two years later, I enrolled in the Massage Practitioner Program at Whatcom Community College , a decision that changed everything.

Finding My Flow as a Massage Therapist

After graduating and earning my Washington State Massage License (LMT), I began my professional career working at Massage Envy, Bella Body, and Sol. Each role helped me develop new skills and refine my approach to bodywork.

Then, I landed what felt like my dream job, working for Traci Soriano at Veritas Massage. That space became my professional home for nearly eight years. Surrounded by talented, compassionate therapists and supportive clients, I truly grew into the therapist I am today.

Creating My Own Space for Healing

After nearly a decade in the field, I decided to open my private massage therapy practice in Bellingham. I wanted to create a space that reflects who I am, calm, grounded, and a little playful (yes, I bring my dogs Rza and Dezi to work).

Running my own practice also gives me the flexibility to design customized treatment plans and financial options that fit each client’s needs, something that isn’t always possible in larger studios.

Gratitude for the Work I Love

Finding massage changed my life. Every day, I get to help people feel better in their bodies, easing tension, reducing stress, and supporting their overall well-being.

I’m endlessly grateful for the trust my clients place in me and for a career that never feels like work. This journey has been filled with lessons, laughter, and healing, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
